Image 1 & 10The footprint of the reception desk followed the geometry of the hand woven carpet as well as the fixed points of the structural steel work which encased in curved veneered cladding. The scheme’s finishes are predominantly European Oak although the reception desk was provided with a durable solid surface material (Corian) shaped desk top that’s wraps the columns. Image 5 & 8The chambers were space planned to seat 70 councillors on fixed curved tiered desks. We created an up stand on the front edge of the semi circular desk to house all cables and audio equipment and power requirements for each delegate. Whiteleaf Design Ltd also supplied all the councillors lose seating manufactured by Luke Hughes Ltd from one of their standard ranges which were adapted in width to suit the confines of the space. Image 6, 7 & 13Within the reception area Whiteleaf Design provided this unusual double faced display case for the Councils Mace. The contents can be viewed on entry into the building as well as from the reception side of the display case as it sits in an opening formed in the buildings masonry walls. Image 11In front of the 4000mm high media wall within the chambers Whiteleaf Design Ltd installed a straight row of Mayoral seating and desking raised up on a low platform. The coat of arms of the council was inlayed into the centre panel of the media wall using maple and walnut veneers. Image 14 & 15Further bespoke display cabinets were provided. The largest display was the Mayoral robe display which is a walk in display case entered through the back and a silicone butt jointed front. The ‘Chains of office’ were housed in two 1200mm display cases with security glass doors and integral lighting. The chains them selves sit on a bed of velvet. < Back to Gallery |
